Ashlee in Wonderland: A Whimsical Chateau Wedding

I have been so excited to blog about Ashlee and Jun's October 2016 wedding in Estes Park. I know it is not from this most recent wedding season, but it's still one of my favorite weddings, so I just had to share! Ashlee and I are good friends - we first met at our day jobs, and she quickly became my #2 at Kimberly Rose. So, when she got engaged, of course we were extra excited to plan her big day! This is truly one of the most whimsical, magical weddings I think we have done to date.

Ashlee has always loved everything Disney, and she wanted to incorporate little details and magical elements of Disney into her wedding. Now, this idea could easily become "cliche", but her vision was so refined and classy, that I think her wedding demonstrates how you can take an abstract theme and truly create wedding magic. Ashlee and Jun were married in a beautiful Catholic church in Estes Park, Colorado. The juxtaposition between the traditional elements of the Catholic ceremony and the whimsical feel of the reception, which took place at the Della Terra Mountain Chateau, brought an element of surprise to the reception. The bride wore a gorgeous two piece gown from The Bridal Collection, while Jun and his groomsmen wore traditional Filipino Barongs as a nod to Jun's heritage.

We focused our Disney ideas down to a more specific theme: Alice in Wonderland. Ashlee wanted to play with the elements of big and small in the wedding, much like the movie, where the cookies make Alice very big and the drink makes her tiny. Shannon at the Olive and Poppy captured Ashleeโ€™s vision perfectly with flower combinations that literally defied convention. From towering vases with cascading vines to a tea pot spouting flowers, and bird cages bursting at the seams with blooms, every detail of every arrangement fit perfectly with the theme. The linens in rich plum and blush napkins brought warmth and and a cozy element to the chateau. At the front of the room, we created a magical garden full of over-sized (try six foot tall!) flowers that seemed to sing along with the music. My favorite design detail were the five tiny wedding cakes carefully crafted by Cakeheads Bakery displayed on a custom made iron stand resembling whimsical tree branches. What could me more fun than cutting into a teensie cake? Ashlee and Jun took it back to Disney's roots with a Mickey and Minnie Mouse themed "guest book". The details go on and on... with two different guest favors, tiny tops hats strategically placed around the room, gold dipped flowers for the bridesmaids, and massive balloons for the wedding party!

Everything about this wedding was simply magical! Ashlee was a Disney princess come to life in her elegant and unexpected kingdom of rich jewel tones and amazing details. And yet despite the magic around every corner, it was Ashlee herself who stole the show. It wasnโ€™t just that dramatic sweetheart neckline and layered chiffon of her magnificent dress; it was the pure joy she emanated throughout the night. Never have I seen a bride so incredibly happy and bubbly the entire night - It was truly unforgettable.
